Converge is an American metalcore band formed in Salem, Massachusetts in 1990. They are known for their intense, chaotic, and dissonant sound, which blends hardcore punk and heavy metal influences. They are considered pioneers of the metalcore genre and are also recognized for their contributions to mathcore. The band's core members are Jacob Bannon (vocals, artwork) and Kurt Ballou (guitar, production).
